Auckland Airport

From the arrival of the Tainui Waka into the Manukau Harbour, Auckland Airport has always been a place of journeys.

We stand proudly as the gateway to Aotearoa, welcoming travellers beginning their journeys, farewelling Kiwis to new destinations, connecting businesses and workers to new opportunities, and celebrating partners and investors who back us along the way.

From our humble beginnings in 1966, Auckland Airport has grown into one of the largest international airports in Australasia. More than three-quarters of all international visitors to New Zealand arrived here before the outbreak of Covid-19, with 21 million passengers travelling through our terminals in the 2021 financial year.

We play a significant role in supporting New Zealand businesses, with around $15 billion worth of freight passing through the airport each year prior to the pandemic. More than 15,000 people, across more than 100 businesses, work in and around us. The wider airport precinct features a world-class business park, commercial office buildings, transport and logistics warehouses, hotels and leisure and recreation facilities.

Today we are focused on transforming Auckland Airport into a world-class travel experience. Not just a place where people go from A to B, but a place where the journey brings as much enjoyment as the destination.

E mahi ana mātou mō Aotearoa. We are working for New Zealand.

Christchurch International Airport

Christchurch Airport is the international gateway to Ōtautahi Christchurch and the South Island, just 15 mins from central Christchurch CBD, hotels and attractions. As borders re-open, 12 partner airlines are expected to directly connect 25 destinations to Christchurch, with extensive trans-Tasman schedules.

The airport is recognised as a global leader in airport decarbonisation. In late 2020 we became the world’s first airport to achieve the highest standard in Airport Carbon Accreditation for proven measurable decarbonisation. We continue to address emissions reduction, including working with airline partners to accelerate decarbonisation of the aviation sector.

Our Kōwhai Park project is on track to be New Zealand’s largest solar energy array at 400 hectares on the airport campus. Through developing renewable energy, we will have the potential to provide 100% renewable electricity for green hydrogen for aviation, and a renewable energy source to power low carbon ground transport and industry. Kōwhai Park is a step beyond carbon neutrality and a way we can catalyse the low carbon future of the Canterbury region.
