Our Commitment to Sustainability
TRENZ is not just about connecting Aotearoa New Zealand to the global tourism trade industry and showcasing the best in tourism, it's about doing so responsibly. As New Zealand’s largest international tourism business event, we understand the responsibility we hold in fostering responsible practices within our operations. Therefore, we continue to actively take steps to mitigate our environmental impact, implementing strategies to reduce and ultimately offset the carbon emissions produced during our event.
Mitigating our Impact
The sustainability plan for TRENZ 2025 is based on the framework of the New Zealand Tourism Sustainability Commitment and includes Economic, Visitor (delegate), Community and Environmental sustainability initiatives.

Carbon Certification with Ekos
In 2024, TRENZ achieved Net Zero Carbon Event (Event Operations) certification in partnership with Ekos. By investing in certified carbon credits, TRENZ supported the growth and preservation of New Zealand forests through the Kānuka Hill - Uruwhenua Native Regeneration Project and the Kern Creek Forest Conservation Project.
Our commitment to measuring, mitigating and offsetting the carbon emissions created by the event included pre- and post-event activities including:
- Staff, speaker, and supplier travel
- Freight and distribution
- Electricity usage
- Venue waste
- Emissions from famil activities
We are proud to continue working with Ekos to be a certified Net Zero Carbon Event for TRENZ 2025.
Ekos is a business that develops and supports carbon projects that grow and protect forests in New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. Ekos’ forest carbon projects deliver climate resilience, waterways protection, erosion control, biodiversity protection and community economic development.
